The Treatment

What is Boey, exactly?

A Boey treatment, start to finish
Hour 0A 10 to 20 minute visit. A few small injections between the brows, then straight back to your day.
Hour 8The earliest point at which a visible change was seen in clinical trials.
Day 7The trials’ primary measurement point: 60% to 66% of patients met the responder threshold by day seven.
Weeks 2 to 3The effect fades on its own and your frown line returns to where it started.
Quick answer: Boey® (trenibotulinumtoxinE) is a Health Canada-authorized injectable neurotoxin for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. It is the first botulinum toxin type E approved anywhere in the world. Results may be visible as early as 8 hours after treatment and typically wear off within two to three weeks.

Like Botox®, Boey works by temporarily relaxing the small muscles that pull the brows together when you frown. The difference is the serotype. Botox, Dysport® and Nuceiva® are all botulinum toxin type A, which takes several days to start working and lasts three to four months. Boey is type E: it is taken up by nerve endings quickly and clears quickly, so the effect arrives sooner and leaves sooner, by design.

That makes Boey a different tool rather than a replacement. Allergan Aesthetics, the makers of both products, describe it as a way to experience what a smoother frown line looks and feels like without a months-long commitment. In its two Phase 3 trials, 60% to 66% of patients reached the responder threshold by day seven, and the most common side effects (headache and injection-site tenderness) were reported no more often than with placebo.

And if you like what you see, the next step is already mapped: Botox Cosmetic® is the only neuromodulator clinically studied for use after Boey, so your injector can plan the transition at the same clinic, with the same team.

Who Boey Is For

A preview, not a commitment.

Boey was designed for people who are curious about neuromodulators but have never quite been ready to book one. In Allergan’s consumer research, 79% of people said they wished they could preview a treatment’s outcome before deciding. Now they can.

01

First-timers

Try a softened frown line for a few weeks, see how it feels in your own face, and decide about Botox from experience rather than guesswork.

02

An event on the calendar

A wedding, a reunion, a milestone birthday, a photoshoot. Boey can be timed so results arrive for the occasion and fade on their own afterwards.

03

Botox-curious, commitment-shy

If three to four months feels like a long time to live with a result you have never seen, a two to three week preview changes the decision entirely.

04

Worried about looking frozen

The most common hesitation we hear. Because the effect is short, Boey is a low-stakes way to discover that a treated frown line still moves naturally. Refreshed, not frozen is the standard here.

05

Returning after a long break

Patients who stopped treatment years ago and want to reacquaint themselves gently before resuming a maintenance routine.

06

Ready for the next step

Botox Cosmetic® is the only neuromodulator clinically studied for use after Boey. Love the result? Your injector plans the transition, and you keep the same clinic and the same team.

Choosing Your Neurotoxin

Boey vs Botox: different jobs.

Both come from Allergan Aesthetics and both are injected by the same experienced providers at Rejuvenation. The right choice comes down to one question: how long do you want the result to last?

Questions

Frequently asked questions about Boey.

What is Boey?

Boey® (trenibotulinumtoxinE) is an injectable neurotoxin made by Allergan Aesthetics, the makers of Botox. It is a botulinum toxin type E, and Health Canada authorized it in June 2026 for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. Canada was the first country in the world to approve it.

How is Boey different from Botox?

Both relax the small muscles that create frown lines, but Boey is a serotype E toxin and Botox is serotype A. Boey acts faster and clears sooner: results may begin within hours and fade in about two to three weeks, while Botox takes several days to begin working and lasts three to four months. Boey is approved for frown lines only; Botox is approved for frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet and several medical uses.

How fast does Boey work?

In the clinical trials some patients saw a visible change as early as 8 hours after treatment, and most responders reached the trial’s threshold by day seven. Expect results to build over the first few days rather than appear all at once.

How long does Boey last?

About two to three weeks. In the trials, frown lines returned to their starting point between days 14 and 21. The short duration is by design: Boey is meant to be a preview rather than a maintenance treatment.

Can I have Botox after Boey?

Yes. Botox Cosmetic® is the only neuromodulator clinically studied for use after Boey. If you like your Boey result, your injector can plan the transition to Botox at the same clinic.

What areas can Boey treat?

Health Canada has authorized Boey for frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) only. For forehead lines, crow’s feet, jawline slimming or medical uses such as migraines and excessive sweating, Botox and Dysport remain the options.

Is Boey safe? What are the side effects?

Boey was studied in two placebo-controlled Phase 3 trials with 947 patients. The most common side effects were headache and injection-site pain or redness, each reported no more often than with placebo. Eyelid or brow drooping was uncommon. As with all botulinum toxin products there is a rare risk of the effect spreading beyond the treated area, so your injector reviews your health history before treatment.

Does a Boey treatment hurt?

Most patients describe neuromodulator injections as a brief, mild pinch. Boey uses a very fine needle, the visit takes only minutes, and a topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand if you prefer.

When will Boey be available at Rejuvenation Dermatology?

Health Canada authorized Boey in June 2026 and Allergan Aesthetics is now rolling it out to Canadian clinics. Timing varies by clinic. Joining the waitlist is the fastest way to find out when your Rejuvenation clinic has treatment dates, and waitlist members are offered the first appointments.

How much does Boey cost?

Pricing will be confirmed before launch. Waitlist members receive pricing details first, before they are published, along with any introductory offers.

This page is for general information about Boey® (trenibotulinumtoxinE), a prescription medicine authorized by Health Canada for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines (glabellar lines) in adults. It is not medical advice. Boey is a medical treatment with risks as well as benefits; onset, degree and duration of results vary between individuals. Suitability and dosing are determined at a personal consultation with a qualified provider.

Important safety information. Boey should not be used by anyone with an infection at the planned injection site or a known allergy to any botulinum toxin product. Adverse reactions reported in clinical trials included headache, injection-site pain and redness, and, uncommonly, eyelid or brow drooping. As with all botulinum toxin products, the effect can in rare cases spread away from the treated area and cause symptoms such as muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, double or blurred vision, or difficulty swallowing or breathing; seek medical attention immediately if any of these occur. One unit of Boey is not the same as one unit of any other botulinum toxin product. Tell your provider about all medical conditions, medications and previous neuromodulator treatments. Boey®, Botox® and Botox Cosmetic® are trademarks of Allergan Aesthetics, an AbbVie company.
