Botox® is the New Black

EYEBROW LIFT: Botox® placed along the lateral eyebrow can help lift the brow and upper eyelid.

UNDER EYE CRINKLING: Botox® can be used under the eyes to help smooth fine wrinkles that develop in this area over time.

BUNNY LINES: Vertical lines which form along the side of the nose when frowning, particularly if a patient has had frown-line Botox®.

GUMMY SMILE: A few units of Botox® are used to relax the muscles that elevate the upper lip when smiling.

MENTALIS (CHIN): Used to treat patients who develop an orange peel texture to their chin due to hypertrophy.

TURN YOUR FROWN UPSIDE DOWN: Botox® is used to relax the depressor angularis oris muscle, a muscle which pulls down on the corners of the mouth that sometimes results in a resting sad face.

MASSETERS: Teeth-grinders or gum-chewers can develop hypertrophy of their masseter muscle. This connects the upper and lower jaw, leading to a squaring-off of the lower face. Relaxation of this muscle can have both a therapeutic (by preventing jaw pain) and cosmetic (by slimming/feminizing the lower face) benefit.

LIP FLIP: A few units of carefully placed Botox® along the upper and/or lower lip can give the lips a pouty appearance and relax vertical lipstick/smoker lines.

PLATYSMAL BANDS: Over time, the platysma muscle of the neck can develop strong muscular bands leading to a widening and crinkling of the neck. These bands can be relaxed with Botox®, smoothing out the neck and making it look slimmer. When Botox® is placed along the upper portion of the platysma muscle at the jawline, it is often called a “Nefertiti Lift”.
